Royal kindergarten
caters for children aged between 3 - 6 years. The school is open from
9:00am - 1:00pm Monday to Friday. Royal Kindergarten caters for
Rastafarian and Ethiopian children in the Jamaican Community in
Shashemane and provides a much needed service at minimal cost in what is
an under developed region in Ethiopia.
Royal kindergarten has Thirty (30) registered students (KG1 and
KG2). Two (2) Ethiopian kindergarten teachers. One (1) first
English language teacher. They are hoping to expand to KG3
September, 09. They are currently trying to raise funds to enable them
to extend the service provided to other families on the waiting list who
desire an economically accessible education for the children in their
community

Children receive
lunch, daily: Injera/wat, vegetables, bread, fruits, rice, macaroni,
sweets, cakes and ice cream.
|
The school ethos is
to provide and encourage a structured education in a clean and safe
environment. Early intervention is encouraged to enable children to
interact within their age group acquiring socialization skills in
the process. Activities are structured to increase the children’s
strength, capabilities, self esteem and confidence.
The techniques used
when planning the structure for the curriculum program is based on a
variety of educational pedagogy. The given theme is carried through
in each activity.
The programme of
study include: Amharic/Oromia. English, Mathematics, Science,
Art/Craft, Sports, Dancing, Drama, Music, Cookery, Circle Time and
Singing. Extracurricular
activities such as school outings occur from time to time but is
limited due to a lack of finance. |
